I just got back from the cardiologist and was happy to learn that all’s well with the ol’ ticker. Every year when I have my annual check up I am reminded I need to seize life by the balls. When I originally learned I had to have open heart surgery it was a serious kick in the gut. I was too young, and there was too much I wanted to do etc. Coming through the surgeries in tact was a huge reminder to me that I needed to do what I want to do in life NOW. I didn’t want my life to be what happened while I was making other plans.
In a sense I was lucky in this way. I got a serious wake-up call and I heeded it. Many cancer survivors have a similar story, they get a kick in the gut and if they survive they take their lives by the horns and they do what they want. They take chances. They live with passion. They make a difference.
I want to tell you:
You don’t have to wait for a tragedy to make big changes in your life.
In fact please don’t.
I didn’t change what I wanted to do, that stayed exactly the same. The difference was simply I actually did it. This might be the same with you. You know what you want to be doing differently, but for some reason you’re not doing it.
A rut is just a grave with the ends kicked out
I am so excited encouraging people to make changes in their lives. I love hearing from folks who are moving to Panama with their kids. I love hearing about the changes people are making in their lives right in their home towns. People voluntarily taking less stressful jobs for less pay so they can enjoy their lives. Even if their friends think they are crazy. You can sense the pride they feel in themselves by getting out of the rut and being different.
Sometimes the hardest part is feeling like you are all alone so we want to bring together a community of people who can share their stories of transformation. I love reading about how people are able to make changes. It helps inspire me to do more. If you have any examples from your own life please leave a comment below for others to read.
If you ever want to feel like these guys…(and who doesn’t?)
You need to take chances. You need to take some risks and you need to be the oddball sometimes. You won’t ever feel this great if you just follow the herd. You can’t be afraid to do your own thing.
Have a great day, TODAY.
